Magued Osman, Ph.D.

FOUNDER & CEO

Magued Osman, is the Founder and CEO of Baseera and Professor at the Department of Statistics, at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.

He is known as a prominent expert in social statistics, biostatistics and public opinion research.

Osman is the non-executive Chairman of Telecom Egypt (WE), the largest telecommunication operator in Egypt.

In 2011, he was appointed Minister of Communication and Information Technology, the first Minister after the 2011 Revolution.

Prior to 2011, he held key positions including Director of the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC), the thinktank of the Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers and Director of the Cairo Demographic Center.

Osman has significant contributions in social, demographic and population research during his appointment at the Social Research Center at the American University in Cairo (AUC).

Furthermore, Osman is the founding President of the Arab Network of Public Opinion Polling Centers, Vice President of the Union of Arab Statisticians, member of the National Council for Women (NCW), Vice Chairman of the Arab Union for Statisticians, member of the International Advisory Board of the School of Global Affairs & Public Policy (GAPP) at AUC, member of the Board of Trustees at the French University in Egypt and member in the Board of Directors of Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper.

Hanan Girgis, Ph.D.

CO-FOUNDER & COO

Hanan Girgis is Co-Founder and the Executive Vice President of Baseera, who is playing a key role in orchestrating Baseera’s daily operations, managing the team and delivering projects at highest quality standards, the factors creating Baseera’s outstanding institutional image for over a decade.

She is locally and regionally recognized as a distinguished expert in the field of statistics, public opinion and quantitative research through her role at Baseera and her publications.

Girgis holds a Bachelor’s degree, a Master and a Ph.D in Statistics from the Faculty of Economics and Political science at Cairo University.

Her ability to integrate her academic and practical experience in social and demographic research are evident in her academic publications and the numerous research projects she manages.

Among her most significant contributions is her work in developing the National Strategy for Population and Development (2015-2020), the National Strategy for Women Empowerment (2030) and the National Strategy for Childhood and Motherhood (2015-2020).
